چکیده

Objectives & background: Drug-induced hepatotoxicity (DIH) is a common side effect of anti-TB drugs. Acute viral hepatitis (AVH) may be confounded with chronic alcoholic clinically, biochemically, and histologically (CAH). Place Study: Rashid Latif Medical College Lahore Duration March 2019 to January 2021 Methods: This prospective research examined the acute as contributing confounding factor in patients normal baseline liver function who acquired while taking short-course medication. All patients' blood was analysed for A, B, C, E markers. Results: In 12 80 TB developed hepatitis, virus present. Indicators included delayed onset significant increases aspartate aminotransferase (AST) alanine (ALT), longer period abnormal levels normalise. Conclusions: According our statistics, 15% hepatotoxic had AVH. Before attributing impact medications DIH patients, should evaluated ruled out all endemic-area patients.

Role of acute viral hepatitis as a confounding factor in antituberculosis treatment induced hepatotoxicity.

BACKGROUND & OBJECTIVE Drug induced hepatotoxicity (DIH) is an important and commonly encountered adverse effect with antituberculosis (anti-TB) treatment. Acute viral hepatitis (AVH) is an important confounding reason which clinically, biochemically and histologically mimics DIH. METHODS The contributory role of acute viral hepatitis as a confounding factor in patients with normal baseline l...

Anti tubercular treatment induced hepatotoxicity: does acetylator status matter?

Anti tubercular drug related hepatotoxicity is common. The mechanism of injury and factors predisposing to its development are not fully understood. Forty patients with anti tubercular drugs related hepatotoxicity were studied to see the clinical and biochemical profile of these patients and to find out the significance of acetylator phenotype in the development of hepatotoxicity. Mean age of p...
